Port Melbourne has celebrated Sam Pleming's (above) 200th game with a tough win over Essendon at Windy Hill. An inaccurate Borough held off a determined Essendon to win 10.25.85 to 10.7.67 and set-up a mouth watering top-of-the-table clash with Box Hill next week. In overcast conditions Port Melbourne jumped out of the blocks kicking the first three goals before the Bombers could even get their hands on the footy. A fifty-metre penalty against milestone man, Sam Pleming, after a high hit on Leroy Jetta, gifted the Bombers a goal on the siren to see the Borough take a nine point lead into quarter-time.

Reigning premiers Box Hill remain on top of the Peter Jackson VFL ladder following a 52-point win over Coburg in their round four Anzac Cup clash at Piranha Park. The Hawks were in control from the outset and ran out easy winners 17.9.121 to 10.9.69. Hawk's ruckman Luke Lowden was awarded the Gibbs-Lines Anzac Day medal for being the best player on the ground. Light drizzle had eased by the start of play as the Hawks quickly asserted their presence kicking four of the first five goals to lead by 22 points at quarter time. Box Hill’s tall timber in Lowden, Tim O'Brien and Sam Grimley provided Coburg defenders with plenty to think about with their mobility and aerial strength.
