Carlton continue winning way in Premier League cricket.

Carlton have continued their good early season form with a 62-run victory over the Greenvale Kangaroos in round four of the Victorian Premier League one-day competition. After making 184 thanks to a century from veteran Nathan Pilon (above), the Blues rolled the Kangaroos for 122 with Tom Smyth the major destroyer snaring 3-36 from his ten overs.

The Kangaroos were making their debut at their new home at Greenvale Reserve and were coming off two solid wins in the previous rounds over Frankston and Northcote. James Damjanovski was superb with the cherry picking up three for sixteen from his ten overs while paceman Peter Manser finished with three for forty.

Carlton was struggling at four for forty-two when Pilon was joined by Nicholas Ross and the pair added 51 before Ross was stumped off Roo's skipper Carl Sandri. Pilon and Patrick McKenna then put on forty-five to steer the Blues to a respectable total. Pilon clubbed his way around the park at will in his second fifty and brought up his ton, his eleventh in the Premier League, in the final over from 103 deliveries before lofting a catch to Manser again off Sandri.

After being in trouble early the Blues had recovered and posted a difficult score to chase on the large windswept oval. Greenvale openers, Damjanovski and Eric Ghasperidis, were cautious early and had just seven runs on the board off as many overs. Then the rot set in. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals as the Roo's batsmen struggled to get any momentum.

They tumbled to be eight for 86 with only Sandri resembling anything of a one-day innings making 30 from 42 balls. Apart from Smyth, Captain Tim Welsford (2-17) Chris Millard (2-16) and Nick Austin (2-38) all got among the wickets.
Carlton are now the only unbeaten team in the competition and are away to an improving Northcote next week while Greenvale face a difficult task away to Melbourne.
